Kimora Lee Simmons-KLS
So I have deiced to bring Designer Spotlight back to TPS. It’s been a long time but we are back into the groove of things and to kick things off for 2016, I decided to start with Kimora Lee Simmons. She’s so real and relatable, and since watching her shows on television, I couldn’t help but admire the way she handles her business deals and brand as a woman.
She is more than the ex-wife of Hip Hop mogul and successful entrepreneur Russell Simmons, Kimora has expanded her own brand and entire reach to millions across the entire world as an actress, being creative directors of major fashion brands to being an author.
Kimora was born in Saint Louis Mo (born in the same city…heeyyy!!), she began her modeling career at an early age. Kimora gained an exclusive contract with Chanel at the age of 14 and moved to the fashion house country ofParis, France to start her professional modeling career.
But I was introduced to Kimora as being the face of Baby Phat. I would bug my parents to get me a pair of jeans or a shirt every time we went shopping. I am not a fan of cats but that brand represented to me then everything that was pretty and just plain better than everything else that was popular at the time in my eyes. Looking back, the brand also was very ultra girly and full of pink!
Kimora launched her own high-end luxury wear KLS in the fall 2015.
Funny,bold and overall business woman. I find Kimora to be a friend in my head and an overall role model and inspiration. A mother, wife, business owner and everything fabulous!
