Explore Chicago

Yes, come explore Chicago with me! If you’re not following me insta- which you should be, you would have known I’ve traveled to Chicago over the past weekend. With there being no chances of snow, but chances to be blown away, I had to make a getaway. With that being said, let’s recap my weekend visit to the windy city. This Chicago travel guide is for anyone who’s never been to Chicago or looking to see what’s open since the pandemic started. I spent the majority of my time in River North, which is basically a 20 min walk from downtown. Yes, I walked everywhere. But, I am so grateful to finally bring you some Travel content, so let’s get into this post.

Chicago 2021 Travel Guide

I am not sure why I be playing myself when it comes to this city. Chicago weather is nothing to play with. Honestly, it isn’t that bad. But then again, it’s not 60-70’s like most places. I had a vision in my to take vacation Spring-inspired photos-Nah! THAT DID’NT HAPPEN The wind and cold air wouldn’t allow me. I am more of a morning person, so it tends to be colder in the AM. However, I believe I took some great photos for this city feel. I actually had to purchase a coat, yeah it got that bad. I would say May- September is the best time to visit.

Cafe’s for me are a thing. There’s just something about being able to work inside of a cafe and it has everything you need. From fast wi-fi to amazing coffee. Because of TikTok, I checked out two places. Foxtrot and Edie’s Cafe. Foxtrot is located throughout the Chicago area. A cute convenience store that has great coffee btw. However, the foxtrot location in River North doesn’t have a bathroom. They will tell you that the nearest restroom is the BP Gas Station…which is outside. NO NO NO! Instead, make reservations at the Edie’s Cafe located less than a 2 min walk from this Foxtrot location. It’s a major vibe, the staff is great, they serve pink $7 lattes, good food, and a nice happy hour.

I took the Amtrak to Chicago, view my blog post here. But, I chose to “live” like the locals and catch the L train throughout the city. I took the bus, but L train was very consistent and the CTA workers was helpful too. However, you have options of a Taxi, Uber, etc. The train just worked for me and I got my steps in!

Shopping & Restaurants

Since Covid restrictions are still a thing, dressing rooms are still closed at locations such as Old Navy, Zara, Primark just to name a few. TheRealReal, they will allow you to try on clothes. The staff is amazing there as well too! Check google maps or the store’s social media pages for updates. I bunch restaurants and shopping together because restrictions apply in most cases. Restaurants within the Chicago area are either closed or taking rsvp only.

Restaurants I am loving so far,

Land and Lake -Downtown- Bottomless mimosas come with a meal for a total of $30 on weekends. Happy hour all week 4-7pm everything under $10. Great and amazing staff and perfect for people watching if you’re sitting on the patio.

Edie’s Café- River North- My official office. Pretty and modern décor. Serves breakfast, food, adult drinks and pink latte’s. Must have a RSVP if you want an amazing seat. Very Instagramable place to take photos at.

Edie’s Café- Pink Latte with Rose petals

Broken English Taco pub- Went here a few hours after brunch. The Nachos were more than enough to share with two other people. They offer bottomless mango mimosas.

Broken English Tacos Nachos.
